Bruce Famili opened Rialto Pizza in Greenfield in 1993, starting with takeout and delivery, which remains consistent and reliable.

In February, he completed a series of expansions that afford him two indoor dining areas, one of which can be closed off for private parties. There's also catering available.

"Greenfield is a small community," Famili said. "Almost everybody knows me by name."

Famili's restaurant, which offers its own parking lot, sits on a hill above Beechwood Boulevard, near both Oakland and the Squirrel Hill exit for the Parkway East.

Rialto's signature crust is thin, flavorful and crispy, and the restaurant also bakes the thicker Sicillan crust – with a light, fluffy twist – as well as thick, juicy calzones and strombolis. The red sauce tends toward a hearty flavor natural to the tomato, rather than being sweet from sugar, which, of course, is another viable culinary style. The white pizza is lightly flavored with garlic.
